The Dolomite Alps: Via Ferrata Edition

It was an elaborate plan: 3 children with their partners, and, in one case, with their own kid, travelling 800km in secret to surprise their father for his 60th birthday, singing traditional mountaineering songs on the balcony of their parent’s holiday appartment, when their dad came back from a hiking tour with his wife of more than 30 years.

Never in my life will I forget the expression on my dad’s face when he heard our voices and then saw our faces, and never in my life will I forget the week we all spent together after the inital surprise, roaming the mountains, having breakfast together, always making jokes, enjoying the marvellous views, always sweating from to much sport. I will cherish these memories forever.

Before this, my husband and I were secretly on holiday already, and we were spending one week of doing as much mountain climbing as we could. Just the two of us, and of course the very special acquaintances you make at 3000 meters above sea level.
I think I’ve never felt at home as much as I did for these two weeks.

I want to share some pictures of the first week with you, and I will add some descriptions to the pictures in case you are interested about the tours.
Thank you for viewing!
